Jane Bordeaux Singer Denies Misleading Accuser, Condemns Online Abuse

Doron Talmon, lead singer of the Israeli band Jane Bordeaux, has broken her silence following accusations that she relayed information from a sexual assault complainant to the accused musician, Yuval Vilner. The complainant, Naama Shahar, claimed on Instagram that after filing a complaint against Vilner, she contacted Talmon, whom she knew superficially from a music video. Shahar stated she informed Talmon about evidence in her diary and that Talmon subsequently passed this information to Vilner. Shahar expressed disappointment, writing, "I was naive and didn't think a woman would do such a thing to another woman."

Talmon responded, stating she had remained silent out of respect for the pain and distress involved but could no longer stay quiet. She characterized the attempts to defame and threaten her and her bandmates, and to blame them in Vilner's case, as a grave injustice accompanied by baseless and defamatory statements. Talmon asserted that the details presented about her actions were incorrect, partial, and biased. She also condemned the severe online abuse directed at her and her daughters, including wishes for them to be raped, stating it does not aid the just struggle of women.
