Hostage's Mother Feels Betrayed by Netanyahu After Meeting

Einav Zangauker, mother of former hostage Matan Zangauker and an activist for the release of hostages held in Gaza, stated she felt "betrayed" by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following their initial meeting. Speaking to Channel 13, Zangauker revealed that prior to the October 7, 2023, attack, she was a right-wing supporter who viewed Netanyahu as a "Mr. Security."

Following her son's abduction, Zangauker claimed the IDF could not provide her family with precise information about his whereabouts, estimating a 60% chance of his death. She also criticized the demeanor of Netanyahu and his wife, Sara, during a meeting with hostage families.

According to Zangauker, the Prime Minister primarily discussed his own accomplishments and the heroism of his brother, Yoni, who died during the Entebbe operation. "I saw disrespect from the Prime Minister and his wife. It was PR at our expense," she stated.

Matan Zangauker was released in October as part of a hostage exchange deal. Einav Zangauker announced that after her campaign to bring her son home, she has decided to enter politics, believing elected officials determine state policy.
