National Security Minister Accuses Attorney General of Pressuring Police Chief
Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has leveled sharp accusations against the Attorney General, claiming she is exerting significant pressure on Police Commissioner Danny Levi. Speaking on Galei Yisrael radio, Ben-Gvir alleged that the Attorney General is "pushing him into a corner" and that this pressure is affecting Levi's conduct.
Ben-Gvir further claimed that during closed-door meetings, the Attorney General has been heard "shouting at him." He cited a specific instance from two weeks prior, where he stated the Attorney General pressured Levi to appoint a deputy legal advisor within the police force. Ben-Gvir questioned the appropriateness of such a demand, asking, "Where is this heard? A legal advisor needs a representative within the police?"
According to the minister, the Police Commissioner eventually yielded to this demand, with Ben-Gvir stating, "She pressured him and he surrendered."
