United Arab List Leader Calls Disqualification Bids Political Maneuver

The head of the United Arab List's political bureau, Yahya Dahamsha, has criticized disqualification requests submitted by the Likud party and other right-wing factions seeking to prevent the list from running in the upcoming Knesset elections. Dahamsha described these moves as repetitive claims and a political maneuver aimed at evading responsibility for government failure and pressuring the Supreme Court.

In a statement to i24NEWS, Dahamsha explained that the Likud party's request is based on old arguments and justifications from previous years, lacking any new legal grounds. He pointed out that right-wing parties are attempting to distort legal interpretations by demanding the Elections Committee retroactively examine these past issues in light of the post-October 7th events.

Dahamsha further stated that the right-wing effort to disqualify the United Arab List primarily aims to remove it as a legitimate player in future government coalitions. He suggested this strategy seeks to blame the judiciary and the Supreme Court if the disqualification requests are rejected, thereby turning the judicial system into a political adversary.

Regarding election preparations, Dahamsha denied any connection between the joining of former MK Yoav Segalovitch to the list and the disqualification justifications. He affirmed that Segalovitch's involvement is part of the list's plan to confront the escalating crime and violence in the Arab community, leveraging his prior experience and operational background in this area.
