Reserve Master Sgt. Ehud Banai, the legendary company sergeant major of the Nahal Brigade and Camp 80, has died at the age of 76. Banai served at Camp 80 from 1968, and over the years thousands of soldiers passed under his command during their military service.
Among those who served under him were three future chiefs of staff, Benny Gantz, Herzi Halevi and Moshe Ya'alon. Banai was widely known as a defining figure at the camp and in the brigade, where he left a lasting mark on generations of troops.
After leaving the IDF, Banai continued to volunteer in various roles with the Civil Guard and the army.
