IDF Spokesperson Denounces Film on Gaza Operations as False

IDF Spokesperson Avi Dahan publicly responded to the controversial British documentary "Accidental Damage," which has sparked outrage in Israel. In a statement on social media, Dahan asserted that claims presented in the film's promotional material are "false, untrue, and some are even presented in a distorted, misrepresented, and detached manner from the reality on the ground."

The film, directed by Israelis Yuval Abraham and Rachel Shore, won a jury prize at the Venice Film Festival. It reportedly examines the operations behind the "extensive killing" of Palestinian civilians in Gaza during the recent conflict, featuring Israeli testimonies suggesting intentional and systematic killing stemming from the dehumanization of Palestinians.

Dahan emphasized that the IDF is a values-based military operating according to international law and professional standards, both in the past and moving forward, even under complex combat conditions. He invited the filmmakers to allow IDF representatives to view the full film to enable a substantive discussion of its claims, arguing that public discourse should be based on facts, not "false representations and slander."

He concluded by expressing full support for IDF soldiers and commanders, especially since October 7th, stating that those who have sacrificed and defended the country deserve support and protection in return, and vehemently rejecting what he called "baseless slander" against them.
