Ben Gvir Claims Shin Bet Tackling Crime; Police Deny, Accuse Him of Misleading Public
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir claimed on Monday that the Shin Bet security agency has begun addressing crime, attributing a recent decrease in incidents to its involvement. "In recent months, since the Shin Bet entered the picture, we are seeing a decline. There are 18 fewer incidents today," Ben-Gvir stated in an interview with Army Radio.
However, senior officials within the Israel Police strongly refuted the minister's assertions. One high-ranking police source attacked the minister's claims, clarifying that the Shin Bet has not yet begun its operations. "The one who acted in the field and brought about the decline is the Israel Police. The minister is attributing the police's achievements to the Shin Bet and misleading the public," the source stated.
