Hapoel Tel Aviv Opts for Stability in Transfer Window

Hapoel Tel Aviv has concluded its second summer transfer window in the Israeli Premier League with a minimalist approach, contrasting with the previous season's extensive signings. This summer, the club added only four players, including Doron Leidner, who was officially acquired from Olympiacos. The team emphasizes that their most significant reinforcement is retaining the core of last season's squad, with eight of the previous year's players, excluding the departed Luizão, remaining for the current season. The club believes this continuity will foster improved performance, as players become more accustomed to Israel and the team environment.

Despite a modest scoring record of one goal in 13 appearances last season, striker Kwame Boateng remains with the team due to coach Ronny Barada's strong valuation of his tactical discipline, work rate, and ability to create space. The club asserts that Boateng's contributions benefit the entire team, even if not directly reflected in his personal statistics. Notably, Boateng has already scored three goals this season, suggesting an improvement in his second year.

The most high-profile acquisition is Douglas Owusu, signed from Red Star Belgrade, who has helped fans quickly move past the departure of Luizão. While some questioned the signing, given Red Star's preference for Luizão, Hapoel Tel Aviv expressed confidence in Owusu's abilities, having monitored him for an extended period.

Additionally, Hapoel Tel Aviv signed winger Yanick Lallindel after a prolonged search for a left-sided player. The club also brought in Israeli midfielder Jonathan Ferber to add depth to the squad and acquired young player Itay Shavit from Hapoel Kfar Saba on a five-year contract, viewed as a future investment rather than immediate reinforcement.
