Driver Caught Speeding at 137 KPH with Extremely High Blood Alcohol Level

Traffic police in northern Israel apprehended a 60-year-old man driving at 137 kph on Highway 65, significantly exceeding the speed limit. Upon stopping the vehicle, officers detected the smell of alcohol. A breathalyzer test revealed an exceptionally high level of 1,720 micrograms of alcohol per liter of exhaled air. Further tests indicated a positive result for drug influence in a urine sample.

The incident occurred over the weekend during a targeted enforcement operation by the National Traffic Police in the Galilee region. Officers used a speed measurement device to clock the driver and subsequently pulled him over. The driver, identified as a resident of Kfar Saba, was taken to a police station for further investigation.

Following the initial findings, a police officer decided to suspend the driver's license and impound his vehicle for 30 days. The investigation into the case is ongoing. Police stated that such targeted operations aim to identify and remove dangerous drivers from the roads to reduce the risk of accidents and fatalities, and they will continue to combat life-threatening driving offenses.
