Liverpool have quickly turned to another winger target after completing a separate €40 million signing hours earlier, but their first major attempt has already been turned down. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League club offered RB Leipzig €100 million for Ivorian winger Yan Diomande, made up of €90 million guaranteed plus €10 million in bonuses, and the German club rejected it outright.
Leipzig believe Diomande is worth more and are said to want at least €120 million, with his World Cup performances potentially pushing that figure even higher. The Bundesliga side are also trying to keep him by offering a substantial salary increase and a contract extension that would include a release clause.
Paris Saint-Germain could complicate Liverpool’s plans. The European champions have not yet made a formal bid, but they are following the situation and waiting to see where the player wants to go. Even so, The Athletic reports that Liverpool currently have the edge on personal terms.
The 19-year-old’s rise has been driven by an impressive breakthrough season. He scored 12 goals and added nine assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances, helping Leipzig finish third and qualify for the Champions League. He has also impressed for Ivory Coast, starting the World Cup with a standout display in a 1-0 win over Ecuador.
