National Library to Exhibit Books Commemorating October 7 Victims
As the three-year anniversary of the October 7 attacks approaches, the National Library of Israel is set to unveil an exhibition titled "7.10 | Bound in Memory." This display will feature memorial books and booklets created in response to the immense loss experienced by Israeli society.
The library is actively seeking to expand its collection of these commemorative works, urging families who have published such books or booklets to deposit physical and/or digital copies. The initiative is part of a broader documentation effort by the National Library to collect, preserve, and catalog materials related to the October 7 events and the subsequent war, ensuring their accessibility for future generations. A dedicated mini-site on the library's website will also allow the public to explore the personal stories and memories behind the names.
The call for submissions is directed at all bereaved families of fallen soldiers in all of Israel's conflicts, as well as families of victims of hostile acts throughout the country's history. The library's catalog, available online, can be consulted to check if a particular book has already been submitted.
In parallel, from October 4 to 8, the "Otef Salon" (Surrounding Salon) project will offer the public opportunities to meet hundreds of survivors and security personnel who experienced the October 7 massacre. These encounters, held in homes and communities across Israel, aim to provide direct testimony of the events and the ongoing struggles faced by those affected. Launched in 2024, the "Otef Salon" project is organized by the 255 organization, which represents hostages and their families, with support from various entities including the Future for the South movement, the Nova Community, Edut 7.10, the Qomm movement, the Kibbutz Movement, KKL-JNF, and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
