Beitar Jerusalem Coach Discusses Team Status Ahead of Maccabi Petah Tikva Clash

Beitar Jerusalem is set to face Maccabi Petah Tikva on Tuesday to conclude the fourth round of the Israeli Premier League. Following their first win of the season against Bnei Sakhnin, head coach Almog Cohen and forward Yujin Ansa spoke to the press. Notably, Yarden Shua will not start against Maccabi Petah Tikva after not being included in the team's practice lineup.

Coach Cohen addressed Shua's situation, stating it's not yet final but that the team wants him at peak fitness. "If we want to be a strong team, we want him at his peak condition - and healthy," Cohen said. He also reflected on the team's early-season struggles, expressing hope they can emerge stronger, as they have in previous seasons.

Looking ahead to the match against Maccabi Petah Tikva and coach Ziv Arie, Cohen stated, "We give respect to every team in the league, I think Ziv Arie is an excellent coach." He emphasized focusing on their own game, aiming for improved defensive transitions and "rest-defense." Cohen also introduced new signing Alexis Serna, a defensive midfielder described as powerful and strong, expected to bolster the team's midfield.

Regarding potential new signings, Cohen confirmed that negotiations are underway only for Uri Azu. "There are talks between the clubs, we'll see what happens," he commented on Azu. He also mentioned that the transfer window is still open for a left-back, with possibilities to develop. "Players will not be released until the end of the window," he assured.

Forward Yujin Ansa spoke about the team's relief after the win against Sakhnin, acknowledging the pressure lifted from players, staff, and fans. He expressed anticipation for the upcoming match, stating, "Everyone is ready and coming for a win to show the things we have been working on since the beginning of the season."
