Israel Authorities Order Self-Demolition of Structures in Kafr Kanna

Israeli authorities have compelled several citizens to demolish their farm structures and buildings in 10 complexes located in a plain area of the town of Kafr Kanna, citing "building violations." The Enforcement Authority in the Territories took action against the buildings and farm structures, recently posting demolition orders that forced their owners to carry out the demolitions themselves.

The Enforcement Authority stated that "issuing administrative orders in the open areas of Kafr Kanna led to the self-demolition of buildings and the evacuation of the lands." The authority described this as "another example of effective enforcement that led to the cessation of the violation and the restoration of the situation to its previous state." It added that it would continue to "work firmly" against what it termed "illegal construction throughout the country."

The report highlights that this self-demolition, often driven by fines and psychological pressure, is a recurring issue in Arab towns, with owners facing the difficult choice of demolishing their properties to avoid further penalties.
