Israeli Journalist Slams Colleagues for Praising Film Before Watching

Yaron Avraham, a reporter for Channel 12 News, has publicly criticized colleagues and others who are quick to praise and share the film "Nez" before seeing it. Avraham stated in a social media video that he, too, has not yet watched the film and is therefore refraining from forming an opinion, but he finds the widespread enthusiasm perplexing.

Avraham expressed frustration that many Israelis, including his peers, are praising the film without having seen it, especially given its potential to portray the IDF as a ruthless killing machine against innocent civilians. He lamented that such discussions often omit any mention of the October 7th attacks, calling it a "tiny, minuscule event."

He questioned why people are celebrating a narrative that may not align with the Israeli stance, asking if the support stems from a desire to adopt a contrarian position against the Israeli establishment. "How did it happen that your default as Israelis is to believe the other side?" he asked, suggesting that some might find it "cool" to be subversive even without factual backing.

Avraham concluded by urging a postponement of the discussion until after everyone has seen the film. He encouraged those already applauding it to reflect on why it elicits such a strong reaction before they have even viewed it, emphasizing that the real debate should commence post-viewing.
