Likud Party Seeks to Disqualify Arab Parties from Knesset Election
The Likud party announced its intention to file requests to disqualify the Joint List and the Ra'am party from competing in the upcoming Knesset elections. The party stated that "there is no place in the Knesset for those who harm IDF soldiers and are unable to say that Hamas and Hezbollah are terrorist organizations."
Likud further alleged that "these supporters of terror are the natural partners of Gadi Eisenkot, with whom he wants to form a government alongside Yair Golan and [Avigdor] Lieberman."
The move reflects a political strategy by Likud to challenge the legitimacy of Arab political parties whose stances on certain security issues are perceived as problematic by the right-wing party. The disqualification requests will be submitted to the Central Elections Committee.
