Three Young Men Murdered in Israel's Arab Community, Sparking Outrage

Three young Arab men, brothers Zein and Qassem Odeh, aged 16 and 20 respectively, and their cousin Yahya Bassimi, 22, were found dead inside a burned car in an open area between the towns of Jatt and Baqa al-Gharbiyya on Monday morning. The discovery has sent shockwaves through the Arab community in Israel, reigniting fears of escalating violence.

The father of Yahya Bassimi described his son as someone trying to distance himself from trouble and build a future, with plans to marry and start a family. He also noted that the other two victims were orphans who had been raised by their grandmother and were like sons to him. The three were reportedly working, with one in electrical work and Yahya pursuing his own career goals.

Bassimi's father recounted the hours before the discovery, explaining that Yahya usually went out with friends and returned home. When he didn't, and his phone was unreachable, the family initially waited before officially reporting them missing to the police. The police later confirmed the three were missing, and the family eventually received the tragic news of their deaths.

Local activist Mohammed Hajali from Jaljulia expressed the deep sadness in the town, noting that this is not the first time it has experienced such violence. He described the ongoing killings as a "waterfall of blood" and expressed hope for a police statement clarifying the circumstances. Hajali emphasized that the victims were known to be good people who volunteered and did not harm anyone.

Hajali criticized the security services and the state for failing to curb the violence, which he believes is spreading rapidly and appears to be organized and planned, targeting the Arab community. He stated that since the beginning of 2026, 176 people have been killed in the Arab community in Israel, highlighting the urgent need for serious measures to address the escalating crime.
