Turkey Accuses Israel of Indirectly Supporting ISIS

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has leveled an unusual accusation against Israel, stating that the country indirectly supports the Islamic State (ISIS). Fidan made these remarks during a meeting in Damascus with his Syrian counterpart, where both officials criticized Israel's policies in Syria.

Fidan specifically alleged that Israel's actions are undermining stability and, by extension, aiding ISIS. He elaborated in a recent interview with Reuters that while Ankara does not seek conflict with Israel in Syria, Israeli strikes are hindering Damascus's ability to deter its enemies and combat ISIS. "We do not want to see a confrontation with Israel in Syria, because Syria belongs to the Syrians," Fidan stated.

The Turkish foreign minister's comments come amid ongoing Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian-linked sites and weapons depots within Syria, which Israel maintains are necessary to prevent its regional adversary from establishing a military foothold on its northern border.
