Celine Dion Returns to Stage for First Full Concert in Six Years
Canadian singer Celine Dion is set to perform her first full concert in six years on Saturday evening, September 12, in Paris. The show at the Plenitude Arena in Nanterre marks the beginning of a series of 26 concerts scheduled over the next eight months, with all tickets for the initial performance sold out. Dion's last full concert was in 2020.
In 2022, Dion revealed she has stiff-person syndrome, a rare autoimmune neurological disorder, which led her to cancel tours and largely cease performing. She made a brief return to the stage in July 2024, singing "Hymne à l'amour" at the Eiffel Tower during the Olympic Games opening ceremony. The 58-year-old singer spent approximately two weeks in Paris preparing for her current comeback. Her final dress rehearsal, a full show run-through without an audience, took place on the night of September 10.
Fans have been gathering daily outside Dion's Paris hotel, and she has met with them on several occasions. The concert program will feature her well-known English and French songs, alongside new material. Dion released two new songs in 2026, "Dansons" and "Bonjour, Pardon, Merci," with the latter released in July as her second original song of the year. Demand for the concerts has been immense, with around nine million people registering for the pre-sale. Initially, 16 shows were announced for September-October 2026, with an additional ten added for May 2027.
Ticket prices ranged from 89.50 to 298.50 euros. However, during the initial sale, some buyers encountered prices up to 1100 euros on the AXS platform. The company attributed this to a temporary technical issue and stated that the difference would be refunded to affected customers.
Dion, born March 30, 1968, in Charlemagne, Quebec, began her professional singing career as a teenager and gained international recognition in the early 1980s. She won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1988 representing Switzerland. Throughout her over 40-year career, she has released approximately 30 albums and undertaken about ten international tours. Dion had previously planned two concerts in Israel; one in 2020 was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and a May 31, 2023, concert was canceled due to her health, following her stiff-person syndrome diagnosis.
