Man Arrested for Brutal Assault on Partner in Eilat Hotel

A violent incident occurred at a hotel in Eilat, resulting in the arrest of a suspect. A couple from northern Israel, vacationing in Eilat, were involved in a severe assault witnessed by hotel staff and guests. Alarmed by loud screams from a room, bystanders alerted hotel security and called the police. A security guard who responded attempted to intervene and help the woman, but the aggressive man then turned his attention to the guard. "We heard screams from the room, and I saw a man dragging a woman across the floor," the security guard testified. Another witness provided a more graphic account: "He was tearing at her and banging her head against the floor. He was yelling at her, 'Get up, get up, you bitch, get in the room.' He was forcing her into the room, dragging her."

Police arrived and apprehended the suspect, taking him to the station for questioning. Although the victim, fearing further repercussions, declined to file an official complaint, investigators gathered testimony from four witnesses corroborating the severe violence. It was discovered that the suspect had a prior conviction in 2019 for a similar offense against a former partner.

During a hearing at the Eilat Magistrate's Court, a police representative requested the suspect's continued detention, emphasizing the need to protect the woman despite her reluctance to press charges. The suspect's lawyer argued for his release, citing the victim's denial of violence and the suspect's desire to be with his family for the Rosh Hashanah holiday, stating, "We have neither a victim nor a complainant." However, the judge rejected the defense's arguments and extended the suspect's remand by four days.
