Yoaz Hendel Explains Refusal to Join Gadi Eisenkot's List

Yoaz Hendel, chairman of the "Reservists" party, revealed why he did not join forces with Gadi Eisenkot, stating that Eisenkot feared Hendel would not agree to sit in a government with Arab parties. Hendel confirmed this assessment, explaining that he is committed to forming a "Zionist government" exclusively, excluding both Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) and Arab parties.

Hendel made these remarks in an interview with Yonatan Weiss, following the announcement that Chili Tropper and Gadi Eisenkot would unite their political forces, with Tropper's "Zionist Home" party joining Eisenkot's "Yashar" party. Hendel, who previously split from Tropper, has instead allied with Professor Yaron Zelekha of the Economic Party.

Hendel expressed personal sadness over his split with former partner Tropper but respects his decision. He clarified that he had not directly discussed a potential alliance with Eisenkot, but based on media reports, he understood Eisenkot's concerns about potential coalition partners. Hendel emphasized his commitment to his principles, stating, "What I say, I will do. A government must not be formed with non-Zionist parties, and such a government will not be formed with me."

Regarding his new partnership with Zelekha, Hendel highlighted their platform, which advocates for mandatory military service for all and addresses the high cost of living. He asserted that they have rejected "convenient offers that promise a seat" and are focused on establishing a stable, Zionist government without Haredi or Arab parties.
