Israeli Official Claims Nation Stronger Than Ever After Year of War
A senior official in the Religious Zionism party, speaking from reserve duty in Lebanon, asserted that Israel's strategic situation has never been better, despite heavy costs, at the close of the Hebrew year תשפ"ו (Tashpa"v). He described a "strategic revolution" in security, citing IDF operations deep within Lebanon, the systematic dismantling of Hezbollah, and Israeli control over significant parts of Gaza. The official also claimed major strikes against Iran, including the elimination of senior officials and damage to nuclear facilities, conducted in cooperation with the United States.
Beyond security, the official highlighted unprecedented expansion in West Bank settlements, with dozens of new communities and farms established, and the return to evacuated northern Samaria communities. He also noted renewed construction and population growth in northern Israel and the Gaza envelope communities. The Israeli economy, he stated, demonstrated surprising resilience, with record low unemployment, a rising stock market, surging foreign investment, and a strengthening shekel, despite the ongoing conflict.
Furthermore, the official argued that Israeli society has experienced profound unity, countering narratives of division. He pointed to hundreds of thousands of reservists and their families, thousands of volunteers supporting bereaved families, and extensive youth volunteerism as evidence of "free love" and national solidarity across religious and secular divides. He acknowledged the immense price paid in human lives and the deep sorrow experienced, concluding with a prayer for the end of calamities and a hopeful outlook for the coming year.
