Amjad Taha, a senior Emirati commentator known for his pro-Israel views, launched a sharp public attack on Donald Trump after the U.S. president signed a new agreement with Iran. In posts following the deal, Taha criticized Washington’s demand that military action against Tehran’s regional proxies be halted, arguing that the move damages America’s ties with its strategic partners.
Addressing Trump directly, Taha wrote, “Congratulations, President Trump, maybe you secured a temporary deal, but you shook the trust of almost everyone around you except maybe J.D. Vance and the Supreme Leader of Iran.” He said Israel is central to American security and claimed that attacking allies “who stood by you during war while protecting an enemy that attacked both of you” is how countries lose trust, even if they keep smiling for the cameras.
Taha also said, “As many of us, including me, see it, Israel is America’s greatest ally in the Middle East.” He compared any restriction on Israel striking Hezbollah for the sake of a deal with Iran to telling the United States not to strike al-Qaeda because it is negotiating with Hamas. He said the emerging terms looked unstable and short-term, not like a sound long-range policy for the United States or its allies.
The commentator blamed U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance for what he called an American “surrender” agreement. He ended with heavy sarcasm, saying Trump and Vance had lost the trust of “8.3 billion people” and earned the respect of only one man, Iran’s Supreme Leader, adding that a 60-day deal is not diplomacy but “a ceasefire with an expiration date shorter than a carton of milk.”
