IDF on High Alert Ahead of Jewish Holidays Amidst Multiple Threats

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is on maximum alert across all fronts ahead of the High Holy Days, citing heightened tensions with Iran, Lebanon, the Gaza Strip, Judea and Samaria, Syria, and Yemen. The Air Force has increased readiness for both defensive and offensive systems due to the possibility of missile launches from Iran, considered the primary threat. The IDF is preparing for two scenarios: renewed conflict alongside the United States, or an independent Israeli Air Force operation. Military assessments suggest Iran, facing internal pressure, might attempt missile launches toward Israel, a move it has avoided until now. An escalation with Iran could also impact the Yemen front, potentially leading to further launches by the Houthis.

In the Gaza Strip, a high state of alert is maintained, particularly approaching the one-year anniversary of the October 7th massacre. Hamas is suspected of planning a raid on IDF posts within Israel. The terror group continues to smuggle weapons, maintain its rule, and seek rearmament, with concerns focusing on the introduction of optical fiber drones into the Strip.

Security officials are also worried about the West Bank, which could erupt at any moment. Twenty-six battalions and eight companies are on alert for both Palestinian and Jewish terrorism. In Lebanon, the IDF is on high alert following its operation to destroy Hezbollah's last tunnels in the Jabal 'Amel region, eliminating Hezbollah infrastructure. Israel fears a response from Hezbollah and potential threats from Iran. Discussions are expected with the Lebanese government regarding the expansion of the IDF's withdrawal southward.

Additionally, Israeli security forces are monitoring efforts in Syria to rebuild the army and Turkey's attempts to establish a presence there. Following the tunnel destruction, an Israeli official told Al-Hadath that Israel had raised its defensive and offensive alert levels. Israel has reportedly conveyed a message to Hezbollah and Iran that it will respond disproportionately to any retaliation.
