Bodø/Glimt Goalkeeper Nikita Haikin Injured in Bayern Munich Match

Nikita Haikin, the Israeli goalkeeper for Norwegian club Bodø/Glimt, sustained an injury during his team's Champions League match against Bayern Munich. Haikin, who had kept a clean sheet in the first half, was substituted at halftime due to the injury and a "lot of bad luck," according to reports. Sky Germany noted that Haikin made several good saves in the first half, including an "unconventional stop" in the 44th minute where he narrowly prevented a goal. Despite continuing to play briefly through pain, he was eventually replaced.

Bayern Munich scored their first goal in the 47th minute and added a second in the 61st minute, after Haikin's departure. The absence of the 31-year-old goalkeeper is considered a significant blow to the team. Haikin, born in Netanya to Russian-Israeli parents, has a notable connection to Israel, having played for Israeli clubs Bnei Yehuda and Hapoel Kfar Saba between 2016 and 2018. He joined Bodø/Glimt in 2019 and has been a key player, notably contributing to their historic elimination of Inter Milan from the Champions League last season. He is currently the only Israeli player competing in the Champions League.
