IAEA Confirms Activity at Iran's "Pickaxe Mountain" Uranium Enrichment Site
The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, announced that there is activity at the "Pickaxe Mountain" site in Iran. Grossi stated in an interview with Bloomberg that satellite imagery indicates activity at the mountain, which is a key site for uranium enrichment in Iran. The "Pickaxe Mountain" site, located near the Natanz nuclear complex approximately 140 miles south of Tehran, is one of the locations Iran is using to safeguard its nuclear program efforts.
Israeli intelligence had previously indicated that Iran might be seeking to transfer centrifuges to the site as part of its uranium enrichment activities. Following these intelligence reports, former U.S. President Donald Trump repeatedly threatened to strike the site. Trump told reporters the previous week, "We may be hitting Pickaxe Mountain very soon," adding that they know "who is moving what" within the facility.
