Israel Engineers Association Elects New Chairman After 8-Year Tenure

Israel David has been elected as the new chairman of the Association of Engineers in Building and Infrastructure, succeeding Yigal Govrin after his eight-year voluntary term. Govrin will continue to serve as a member of the association's board.

The election, held on Wednesday by the association's members, also included the selection of board members and heads of professional divisions. David, who has served as deputy chairman and head of the construction division for the past 25 years, is a senior civil engineer with over four decades of experience in building design. He co-founded the firm David Engineers in 1990 with his wife, Yael David, and has managed it since.

Beyond his business work on complex projects globally, David has a significant public record. He is a member of the Engineering and Architecture Council, served as a director and acting chairman of the Standards Institution of Israel, and received a lifetime achievement award in 2019 for his contributions to the high-rise construction sector.

Upon his election, David outlined his vision for the association, emphasizing its key role in leading the construction industry. He stated his intention to implement detailed plans based on his extensive experience and knowledge of the construction field. David highlighted the significant challenges facing the engineering sector in Israel and pledged to work on advancing the status of engineers and integrating technologies to improve productivity.

Outgoing chairman Yigal Govrin reflected on his two terms, noting his efforts to promote the standing of engineers and strengthen the civil engineering profession in Israel. He expressed his pleasure in handing over the role to David, whom he described as having a deep understanding of the association and the industry's challenges.
