Former Elad Mayor Yisrael Porush met with the Vizhnitz Rebbe at his residence in Moshav Ora on Wednesday, in a move aimed at putting past disputes behind them ahead of the new year. The meeting occurred against the backdrop of tensions stemming from the recent Elad mayoral election, in which the Vizhnitz Hasidic dynasty supported Porush's opponent, Shas candidate Yehuda Botbol, who ultimately won.

Despite the political rift, sources involved in coordinating the meeting emphasized that the discussion was not political. The Vizhnitz Rebbe initiated the personal encounter to smooth over relations and rise above the political disagreements that had strained their relationship. Efforts to arrange this meeting had been ongoing for months, with Porush's rabbi, Nachman Biderman, playing a key role in its facilitation.

Those involved in the coordination highlighted that the meeting was a personal initiative by both leaders to close the chapter opened by the election campaign. During the meeting, the Rebbe warmly blessed Porush and shared personal words with him. A source assisting with the coordination stated, "We wanted to hold the meeting even though the political disputes between Vizhnitz and Shlomei Emunim still exist, both in national politics and in the Elad municipality. The goal of the meeting is to separate the political level from personal relations and leave the past behind."
