Vizhnitz Rebbe Visits Rabbi Moshe Sternbuch, Recalls Historic Matchmakings and Torah Bonds

The Vizhnitz Rebbe recently visited the home of Rabbi Moshe Sternbuch, a prominent halachic authority, at his yeshiva in Beit Shemesh to receive his blessing for the upcoming High Holy Days. During this uplifting encounter, they reminisced about significant moments from the past, including Rabbi Sternbuch's role as a matchmaker in 1958 for the marriage of the Slonim Rebbe's sister to the Slonim Rebbe himself. Rabbi Sternbuch fondly recalled receiving the book 'Teshuvot HaRashba' as a token of appreciation for his matchmaking efforts.

The discussion also highlighted another historic match arranged by Rabbi Sternbuch: the marriage of his brother, Rabbi Eliyahu Sternbuch, the late Chief Rabbi of Antwerp, to the daughter of the late "Mekor Baruch" Rebbe of Seret-Vizhnitz. Both Rabbi Sternbuch and the Vizhnitz Rebbe emphasized the deep Torah connection and intense study sessions Rabbi Sternbuch had with the "Mekor Baruch" Rebbe during those years.

When asked about his close relationship with the late "Beit Yisrael" Rebbe of Gur, Rabbi Sternbuch shared that even in his youth, he was privileged to partake in many holy Shabbat meals at the Rebbe's table. At the conclusion of the visit, Rabbi Sternbuch bestowed a sacred blessing for a good and blessed year upon the Vizhnitz Rebbe and his entourage, including his son-in-law Rabbi David Moshe Rozenboim, the Chief Rabbi of Kretshnif Rehovot.
