Police Close Investigation into Channel 14 Incitement Claims

Israel Police have closed an investigation into over 200 statements broadcast on Channel 14 since October 7, which were alleged to constitute incitement. The decision came after a review by the Police Investigations and Intelligence Department found no basis for further action.

The investigation was prompted by a petition filed by three organizations, including one led by former Knesset member Zehava Galon. The petitioners claimed the statements, made by presenters and commentators, included calls for mass murder, destruction, and indiscriminate harm to civilians. They argued these were not isolated incidents but a systematic pattern, suggesting responsibility extended to the channel's management.

However, after reviewing the submitted materials and obtaining expert opinions, senior police officials concluded there was insufficient grounds to proceed. The State informed the High Court of Justice of the decision, requesting the petition be dismissed based on the professional assessment that no criminal proceedings were warranted.

Channel 14 has faced scrutiny over its content, particularly following the October 7th Hamas attacks. This decision effectively dismisses the allegations of incitement brought against the network.
