Police Close Probe Against Channel 14 Over Incitement Claims
Israel's State Prosecutor's Office has asked the High Court of Justice to dismiss a petition that sought a criminal investigation into Channel 14, following a police decision to close the investigation file against the broadcaster. The petition had demanded that the Attorney General, State Prosecutor, and police explain why no investigation was opened into statements aired on Channel 14, which the petitioners alleged constituted incitement offenses.
The statements were reviewed by the Opinions Unit within the Police's Investigations and Intelligence Department. After examining the materials, the decision was made to close the investigation file. Consequently, the state informed the High Court that it is requesting the petition be withdrawn, effectively halting the move to initiate a criminal probe against Channel 14.
