Israeli Man Missing in West Bank Found Safe After Economic Troubles
An extensive security operation in the West Bank concluded Thursday with the discovery of Yativ Sardal, a 53-year-old resident of Ariel, who had been missing after voluntarily entering a Palestinian village in the Samaria region. Sardal was found unharmed near Qalqilya.
Security officials' primary assessment is that Sardal entered the Palestinian village on his own initiative due to financial difficulties. The incident began when security forces received an unusual report of Sardal's entry deep into the area.
In response, a joint command post was established involving the IDF, Israel Police, Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), and the Israel Prison Service (IPS). Advanced technological means, extensive intelligence gathering, and the deployment of the elite "Metzada" unit of the IPS were utilized. A special police helicopter conducted aerial searches, while trackers from the Ephraim Brigade and the "Ma'arav" unit meticulously scoured the ground until Sardal was located.
Following many tense hours of searching and grave concern for his life, security forces are returning to routine operations. Sardal is being transferred for medical checks and debriefing regarding the circumstances of his disappearance.
