Cross Israel Company Employees Unionize with Histadrut

Approximately 120 employees of Cross Israel, the government-owned company responsible for Highway 6 and other transportation and infrastructure projects, officially joined the Histadrut labor union on Wednesday. The unionization aims to improve working conditions and enhance job security for the employees.

The Histadrut has formally requested that the company's management begin negotiations for a first-ever collective labor agreement. Cross Israel, which operates under the Ministry of Transportation and Road Safety, is involved in around 70 national projects, including the construction of public and shared transportation lanes, regional transport hubs, and bicycle paths. The company also manages Israel's toll roads.

"It is time for the workers who advance the country's infrastructure development to themselves benefit from a strong foundation of job security," stated Amichai Stingler, Director of the Histadrut's Workers' Unionization Department. "Cross Israel's resilience starts with its people. We call on management to sit with us at the negotiation table so we can propel the company forward together."

Moshe Yanai, chairman of the workers' action committee, expressed excitement and pride in the unionization effort, stating that Cross Israel employees have shown full confidence in establishing a workers' committee within the Histadrut. He added that their focus is on employee welfare, regulating working conditions, and serving as a listening ear for the workers. Yanai emphasized a commitment to working collaboratively, transparently, and with mutual respect with the company's management to advance both employee rights and the company's success and national missions.
