Cross Israel Company Workers Unionize, Seek Collective Agreement

Approximately 120 employees of the government-owned "Cross Israel" company, responsible for major transportation and infrastructure projects including Highway 6, unionized on Wednesday by joining the Histadrut labor federation. The move aims to improve their working conditions and job security.

The Histadrut has formally requested the company's management to begin negotiations for a first-ever collective labor agreement for the workers. "Cross Israel," which operates under the Ministry of Transportation and Road Safety, is involved in around 70 national projects, including public transport lanes, regional transport hubs, and bicycle paths, and also manages Israel's toll roads.

Amichai Stingler, Director of the Histadrut's Workers' Unionization Department, welcomed the workers, stating, "It is time for the employees who promote the country's infrastructure development to themselves enjoy a strong foundation of job security." He urged management to engage in negotiations to advance the company together.

Moses Yanai, chairman of the workers' action committee, expressed pride in the unionization, emphasizing the workers' trust in the Histadrut. He stated their goal is to ensure employee welfare, regulate working conditions, and foster cooperation with management to advance both worker rights and the company's national mission.
