Israeli Charity to Distribute 24,000 Food Parcels Before Rosh Hashanah

The Israeli charity "Python Lev" will distribute 24,000 food parcels to needy families over two days in the lead-up to Rosh Hashanah. This distribution is double the amount provided in a typical month. The organization stated that the cost of food parcels has increased by approximately 20% over the past two years and criticized Israeli leadership for not addressing the issue of poverty.

"Python Lev" extended an invitation to Knesset members to visit distribution points and witness the reality faced by roughly 2 million impoverished individuals in Israel. As of the time of publication, no lawmakers had accepted this invitation. With elections approximately one month away, the organization urged political parties to outline their strategies for combating poverty.

"A month before the elections, when parties are asking for citizens' trust, it is worth asking: where are the social programs? Who is going to provide a real answer to the problem of poverty and food insecurity in Israel?" the organization's statement read. The demand for assistance is also rising among other charitable organizations. "Leket" previously reported a 32% increase in requests for food parcels before the autumn holidays.
