Lance Stroll Sets Unwanted Formula 1 Qualifying Record
Formula 1 driver Lance Stroll has set a new, negative record in his career, becoming the first driver to be eliminated in the first qualifying round 100 times. This milestone occurred during the qualifying session for the Italian Grand Prix in Monza.
The previous record for first-round eliminations stood at 74. Stroll's 100th elimination marks a significant low point, especially since the current three-stage qualifying format was introduced in 2006. He has faced 15 eliminations in the first qualifying round across the 2018 and 2025 seasons alone.
Stroll, who drives for Aston Martin, has struggled throughout the current season, with his car reportedly underperforming. He has been eliminated in the first qualifying session in every Grand Prix he has entered this year. In the previous race in the Netherlands, he finished 19th with a time of 1:13.88 minutes.
