Man Arrested for Tampering With Baby Food with Sedatives
Israeli police have concluded their investigation into the alleged tampering of baby fruit purees with sedatives. Yan Shamla, a 41-year-old resident of Beersheba, was arrested in connection with the case. Authorities are expected to file a statement of charges against him soon, paving the way for an indictment.
New security camera footage released by the police shows Shamla in a supermarket shortly before he is suspected of placing the contaminated purees on store shelves. Investigators from the Jerusalem Police Department conducted an extensive inquiry, reviewing hundreds of hours of surveillance footage to identify the suspect.
Following his identification, Shamla was apprehended at his home. The investigation continued until sufficient evidence was gathered. The case file has now been transferred to the State Prosecutor's Office for the preparation of an indictment against Shamla.
