Eight Muslim Nations Endorse UK Sanctions on Israeli Settlements

Eight Muslim-majority countries have warmly welcomed the United Kingdom's decision to ban imports from Israeli settlements. Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, the UAE, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, and Indonesia issued a joint statement expressing hope that the British sanctions will "mobilize the international community to take similar measures and hold accountable organizations and individuals engaged in illegal settlement activity."

The foreign ministers of these nations, in a statement released via Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on social media platform X, directly called on Israel to "reverse all measures taken in connection with settlement activity and other measures aimed at altering the geographic and demographic character of the occupied Palestinian territory."

They also applauded a separate joint declaration by 12 Western nations, the UK, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden, which signaled their intent to implement or consider restrictions on Israeli goods deemed illegal under international law.

Furthermore, the eight Muslim countries urged the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. They also called for the "full and immediate implementation of President Trump's comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza to ensure security and stability, promote recovery and revival, and lay the foundation for lasting peace."
