Bnei Brak Education Director Resigns for Knesset Seat

Moshe Rosenthal, who was placed fifth on the United Torah Judaism party list for the upcoming Knesset elections, has resigned from his position as Director of the Education Administration in the Bnei Brak Municipality. Rosenthal served in the role for three and a half years.

In a farewell letter to municipal employees, Rosenthal announced his departure, stating he was moving on to a "new station and a public mission in the parliamentary arena." Malka Gordon, head of the accounting department within the Education Administration, has been appointed as acting director. The municipality has not yet announced a permanent replacement, with sources indicating the position will likely be filled through a tender process.

Rosenthal's entry into the Knesset was reportedly decided only recently, leading to the swiftness of his resignation. Potential candidates for the permanent director role are already being discussed, including Shimi Kashesh, who currently manages the elementary and secondary education department and serves as deputy director of the Education Administration. There is speculation that the tender requirements might include experience in managing a Talmud Torah school, though official terms have not yet been released.

In his letter, Rosenthal thanked Mayor Chanoch Zeibert, the city management, and the Education Administration staff for their work and dedication to the city's education system. He expressed hope that he had fulfilled his duties appropriately and asked for forgiveness for any unintentional offense. He concluded by wishing the staff a happy new year and continued success in advancing the city's education.
