Israeli Tourist Denied Naples Hotel Booking Over Genocide Accusations

An Israeli tourist, Simcha Goldstein, was denied a reservation at a four-star apartment complex in Naples, Italy, booked through the platform Booking.com. After requesting to check in, Goldstein received a message stating, "You can cancel it, I do not accept citizens from countries accused of genocide." The message was sent via the website's system.

Following the incident, a demand was made to remove the accommodation from Booking.com, citing severe discrimination based on nationality and a violation of the company's non-discrimination policy. In response to Ynet, Booking.com stated that accommodations are obligated to avoid discrimination. However, in this specific case, the company issued only a warning and indicated that further action would only be considered if the behavior recurs. The accommodation provider did not respond to Ynet's inquiry.

This event is part of a series of incidents in Italy targeting Israelis and Jews. These include the circulation of an anonymous form on social media to map "Zionist" tourists in hotels and businesses, which was later removed with the intervention of the anti-Semitism czar. Additionally, protests and calls against Israeli tourists have occurred at various Italian resorts.
