Police Arrest Suspect in Grenade Attack on Israeli Store Injuring Five

Israeli police have arrested a 33-year-old resident of Jaffa as a key suspect in a grenade attack on a business in Or Yehuda that injured five people. The suspect had been on the run for approximately four months following the May 26 incident. The Tel Aviv District Central Investigations Unit led the investigation, which included gathering forensic evidence, analyzing technological data, and collecting witness testimonies.

On the day of the attack, loud explosions were heard in the Neve Rabin neighborhood of Or Yehuda, prompting a police and medical response. Officers discovered that a fragmentation grenade had been thrown at an active business, injuring five civilians with varying degrees of wounds and causing significant damage. The severity of the attack, which involved the use of live ammunition in a populated area, led to the intensive investigation by the central unit.

During the investigation, several members of a criminal gang involved in violent incidents and weapons use, including the grenade attack, were identified and arrested. Solid evidence was gathered against them, leading to the filing of serious indictments in court. However, the investigation continued to pursue another central figure in the organization who evaded capture immediately after the explosion.

Following extensive intelligence gathering and covert surveillance, the suspect was located and apprehended last Friday. After an intensive interrogation, a prosecutor's statement was filed against him this week. The State Attorney's Office is expected to file a serious indictment and a request for his remand until the end of legal proceedings in the coming days.
