Moroccan King's Representatives Attend Rabbi's Memorial in Essaouira

Over two thousand people from around the world gathered in Essaouira, Morocco, to commemorate the 180th anniversary of the passing of Rabbi Haim Pinto. The event, known as a Hilula, was led by Rabbi David Hanania Pinto, the grandson of the deceased rabbi and president of the "Orot Haim U'Moshe" organization.

Preparations for the large-scale event involved extensive coordination between the organizers and representatives of the Moroccan King and the Ministry of State Security. Special arrangements were made, including direct flights to a nearby airport and large welcome signs in Arabic. The area around the event site was closed to traffic and heavily secured by hundreds of police officers.

During the commemoration, Rabbi David Hanania Pinto recited a blessing for the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, which was translated for the royal representatives present. These representatives, along with the regional governor and other government officials, attended the main celebratory meal.

The multi-day event included prayer services, the completion of a new Torah scroll, and gatherings at the historical home of Rabbi Haim Pinto. The attendees participated in Shabbat meals, sang religious songs, and heard teachings from Rabbi David Hanania Pinto. The commemoration culminated with a procession to the cemetery, where the rabbi led prayers and blessed hundreds of attendees.

In his closing remarks at the cemetery, Rabbi David Hanania Pinto spoke of living in a time of miracles and the world's readiness for redemption, noting the respect shown by Moroccans for the religious observance.
