Ugandan Army Chief Offers to Defend Israel, Threatens Turkey

Uganda's Chief of Defense Forces, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has publicly declared his readiness to defend Israel, referring to it as "the land of our God, Jesus Christ." In a series of social media posts, Kainerugaba also polled his followers on whether he should deploy troops to Gaza, asking, "Should we deploy to Gaza or not?" He further inquired if they wanted him to "go" by retweeting his message and to "like" if they did not.

Kainerugaba also addressed the absence of an Israeli embassy in Kampala, suggesting it would open "soon." Simultaneously, he escalated his public dispute with Turkey, stating he had severed all ties with Turkish entities in Uganda and demanded they "pack their bags as soon as possible and leave our country."

He announced plans for a demonstration outside the Turkish embassy in Kampala on September 18, assigning responsibility for the event and vowing to detain any "Turkish agent" who speaks out. This follows a previous call for a large protest against the Turkish embassy on September 1, indicating a sustained escalation of his anti-Turkish rhetoric.

In a separate post, Kainerugaba mentioned an upcoming visit to Greece, a rival of Turkey, to visit the tomb of "our ancient ancestor, Alexander the Great."
