Givati Brigade Soldiers Who Refused Orders Released From Military Prison
Eleven out of sixteen Hesder Yeshiva students serving in the Givati Brigade have been released from military prison. The soldiers were confined after refusing to board an armored personnel carrier (APC) where a female paramedic was stationed during an operational activity in the Gaza Strip. The incident occurred in late August when a group of soldiers from the lead company of the Rotem Battalion refused to embark on a planned patrol due to the paramedic's presence.
Eleven of the soldiers were sentenced to five days of confinement, and five others to ten days. The remaining five soldiers continue to be held in military prison. The Hesder Yeshiva program combines religious studies with military service.
