Critically Wounded Soldier Returns to Reserve Duty After Near-Fatal Injury

Itamar Galinsky, who was critically wounded in combat in Lebanon nearly two years ago, has completed his rehabilitation and returned to reserve duty with the same unit. In a video he released, Galinsky expressed gratitude to God and addressed claims of burnout within the reserve forces.

Galinsky was severely injured during fighting in Lebanon approximately two years prior. He has now returned to serve in the very unit where he was wounded. "Dear people of Israel, my name is Itamar Galinsky. I was critically wounded nearly two years ago in combat in Lebanon, and thank God, after two years, I have merited to return to reserve service," he stated.

Galinsky explained that the purpose of his video was not for fame or honor, but to thank God. "Two years ago, I didn't know if I would even survive. Today, thank God, I have returned to reserve service in the unit from which I was wounded in Lebanon two years ago," he said.

In the video, Galinsky also commented on the alleged burnout of the reserve system. "If they tell you the army is worn out, that there are no reserve forces, then there are many people like me who cannot return, who are trying to do what they can," he said. Galinsky concluded his remarks with the call, "The people of Israel live!"
