Top Rabbis Released from Hospital Amidst Political Tensions

Several prominent rabbis have been released from hospital care recently, bringing relief to their respective Hasidic communities. The Rebbe of Belz was discharged from Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center in Jerusalem after successful treatment, with congregants urged to continue praying for his full recovery. Similarly, the Rebbe of Vizhnitz was released after experiencing weakness and undergoing tests that showed normal results; he has returned to his lodging in Moshav Ora.

These releases occur against a backdrop of significant political developments within the ultra-Orthodox political landscape. A new party registration has sparked accusations of division, though the Belz Hasidism and Shlomei Emunim faction assert their move is a necessary step to reclaim the party from those who have "appropriated" it, rather than a schism. This follows a contentious meeting of the Agudat Yisrael council, where Gur faction representatives reportedly demanded the removal of a Sanz representative from the Knesset list, leading to a heated dispute.

Meanwhile, other Hasidic leaders have been engaged in pre-High Holiday spiritual activities. The Rebbe of Kretschneff Sighet led early Selichot prayers in Jerusalem, while the Rebbe of Biala celebrated his grandson's bar mitzvah with a completion of a Talmudic tractate and a discourse. The Rebbe of Biala also held a public reception in Ashdod to receive congregants and blessings before the Days of Awe.

Further spiritual observances include the Rebbe of Ashlag leading his followers to Tiberias and Meron for prayers at the tombs of Rabbi Meir Baal HaNes and Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai. The Rebbe of Babov 45 announced a strengthening tour of Israel due to conscription issues preventing many students from traveling for the Tishrei holidays.
