Top Rabbi Offers Support to Israeli Lawmaker Moshe Gafni at Family Event

Rabbi Dov Landau, a prominent Lithuanian-Hairedi leader, attended the engagement celebration of the grandson of Member of Knesset (MK) Moshe Gafni in Bnei Brak. The rabbi's presence came shortly after a decision that Gafni, who has served in the Knesset for 38 years, would not run in the upcoming elections but would continue as chairman of the national Degel HaTorah movement. Rabbi Landau's attendance was seen as a message of confidence and support for Gafni.

During the event, Rabbi Landau engaged in a lengthy conversation with MK Gafni, reminiscing about Gafni's past residency in Ofakim, where he established religious seminaries. Gafni shared how Ofakim had developed into a significant center for Torah study. The rabbi also inquired about the area and expressed positive impressions.

Before departing, Rabbi Landau also spoke at length with Gafni's wife, Rebbetzin Chana Gafni. She requested that the rabbi bestow strength upon her husband, emphasizing his sacrifices for the Degel HaTorah movement and Torah scholarship. She recalled her past practice of seeking blessings from prominent rabbis for her husband and expressed her wish for his continued success and recognition.

Rabbi Landau offered warm blessings to both Moshe and Chana Gafni, wishing them a good inscription and sealing in the Book of Life, nachas from their children, and peaceful lives. He acknowledged Gafni's significant contributions, stating that they were widely recognized and not overlooked. Rebbetzin Gafni further praised her husband as a faithful emissary, deserving of honor and respect.
