Man Hit by Car While Fixing Flat Tire on Highway 1

A 51-year-old man was moderately injured on Wednesday morning after being struck by a passing vehicle on Highway 1 near the Neve Ilan interchange. The man had pulled over to the shoulder of the road due to a technical issue with his car and was attempting to fix a flat tire when the incident occurred.

Emergency medical teams provided initial treatment and transported him to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. MDA (Magen David Adom) received the report of the accident at 9:58 AM. Responders found the driver with injuries to his limbs.

Paramedics from United Hatzalah described the incident as a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle. They administered initial aid and stated he was evacuated to the hospital in serious condition. However, other reports from the scene indicated his condition was moderate. Medical personnel applied a tourniquet, immobilized the patient, and dressed his wounds before he was taken by intensive care ambulance to the trauma room at Shaare Zedek.

United Hatzalah also noted the accident occurred near the Sorek interchange and reiterated warnings about the dangers of stopping on the side of the road. They urged drivers to exercise extreme caution and avoid stopping on the shoulder whenever possible. If a vehicle malfunctions, drivers should move away from the travel lane and behind the safety barrier if it is safe to do so.
