New West Bank Settlement Construction Begins Amid UK Sanctions Threat

Arutz ShevaRight
Translated & summarized from Arutz Sheva by baba
The story · English

The first structures have been transported and erected at the new settlement of Metzokei Eretz in eastern Benjamin, in the West Bank, with families expected to move in within weeks. Infrastructure and access road work is also progressing simultaneously. This development occurs as the United Kingdom moves to implement restrictions against settlements in the West Bank.

The settlement, located along Route 458 in eastern Benjamin, is preparing for its initial residents. This marks the first time in decades that a new, officially planned, and sanctioned settlement has been established along this route from its inception. The structures being placed are intended for the families forming the core of the settlement.

Alongside the installation of residences, efforts are accelerating to connect the settlement to water and electricity infrastructure and to improve access roads. The first public building is also under construction.

Israel Gantz, head of the Binyamin Regional Council and chairman of the Yesha Council, commented on the construction in light of the UK's actions. "Our answer to sanctions and boycotts is here, on the ground. While Britain tries to punish Jews for living and building in Judea and Samaria, we are placing the first structures of a new settlement in the land of our ancestors," Gantz stated. He added, "The British Mandate ended long ago, and boycotts from London will not determine the future of Judea and Samaria. They will try to boycott, and we will continue to build. More families, more homes, more settlements, and Israeli sovereignty."
