Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmail Baghaei, said the renewed memorandum of understanding with the United States has started a 60-day negotiation period. He added that if Israeli attacks in Lebanon continue, Iran would consider that a violation of the agreement.
Baghaei also addressed Tehran’s ballistic missiles, saying, “Our missiles do not like to be discussed, and their purpose is to be launched, not to be put up for debate.” He said Iran’s defensive capabilities will not be part of any process or negotiation.
His remarks framed the new talks as having already begun with the signing of the updated memorandum, while also drawing a red line around Israeli military activity in Lebanon and Iran’s weapons program.
