Settler Movement Demands Oslo Accords Repeal Amid US Sanctions Talks

In response to European sanctions on Israeli settlements, the settler movement is calling for the cancellation of the Oslo Accords, the expansion of settlements into Areas A and B, and the dismantling of the Palestinian Authority. The movement is also seeking U.S. action against the sanctions.

On Tuesday, head of the Yesha Council, Israel Gantz, met with U.S. Ambassador Mike Hackbee to discuss potential American responses to sanctions imposed by Britain and France on Israeli settlements. This was their second meeting recently, following an extensive discussion at the ambassador's residence the previous day.

Ambassador Hackbee stated to the BBC that if Britain proceeds with sanctions against what he termed 'illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank,' the U.S. would undoubtedly respond. The sanctions are reportedly a reaction to an increase in Jewish terrorism in Judea and Samaria, the establishment of new settlements, and particularly planned construction in the E1 area near Ma'ale Adumim.

This development comes as the Jerusalem District Court rejected petitions seeking to halt construction plans in the E1 area, which include thousands of housing units. These plans aim to disrupt Palestinian territorial contiguity.
